The Man Cave
Men’s Rights, Issues, and Interests
I spent my childhood growing up in the 60′s and my adolescence in the 70′s. In other words, I grew up with feminism. I’ve never had a problem with the “equal rights” or “equal opportunity” issues. I never really understood why it wasn’t always that way. But I was always bothered by the concept of “the patriarchy” and “women’s oppression.” The women in my family sure weren’t oppressed. Discrimination? Sure, I saw that. But discrimination is not oppression. Go ask any Black man about oppression; women were never slaves.
When was the last time a slave owner courted his slave, paying for meals and entertainment? When was the last time a slave owner got down on his knee, presented a prospective slave with a gold ring (often containing precious gems) and asked permission to become that slave’s owner? When was the last time the slave owner went off to work in the fields, mines, or factories often risking life and limb in order to provide food, clothing, shelter, and luxuries for his slave? When was the last time a slave owner stepped aside in a disaster so that his slave may be saved while the owner died? When was the last time a slave owner went off to war to die in order to protect his slave?
But slavery is where men are headed under feminism. Family Law is a prime example. Women rule in Family Court. They are practically guaranteed to get custody of the children and at least half of the marital assets, frequently even more. Men are guaranteed to be forced to share their income. It isn’t infrequent to see men handing over more than half of their paychecks to ex-wives and girlfriends in alimony and child support. It is also not uncommon for fathers to be barred from seeing their children even if the court has granted visitation. Men can be imprisoned for failure to pay child support, but there is generally no consequence for a women who denies visitation. There is no other area where the law grants complete control over another persons rights in the way Family Law grants mothers control over a father’s rights. Slaves work to provide for their masters who benefit from their labor, providing little in return. Men work to provide for their ex’s who provide nothing in return. Sounds pretty much like slavery to me.
Domestic violence is another issue. It is unfathomable to think that only men commit domestic violence and only women are victims. Yet, this is precisely what the domestic violence industry would have us believe. Scientific research indicate otherwise, but is routinely ignored by an industry that refuses to provide victim services for men or treatment for female perpetrators. In fact, the industry has so jaded our opinions on DV that frequently when a man calls the police for protection from his violent partner, he is the one arrested or hit with a restraining order and removed from his home.
And what about education? Boys lag far behind girls in reading and language skill, but there are no special programs to assist them. Compare that with the millions of dollars spent to assist girls in math and science which have leveled the playing field in those subjects. Teachers are far quicker to dscipline boys, and discipline is often more severe for the same offenses. Boys are far more likely to drop out and less likely to graduate than girls. College enrollment is nearly 60% women and women are more likely to graduate from college than men.
Men make up a far higher percentage of the prison population, are nearly 4 times as likely to be a vicitim of violent crime, are much more likely to be homeless, and die on an average of 5-7 years sooner than women. Yet men receive far less governmental aid and men’s specific health care research receives far less funding. There is no Violence Against Men Act.
Do men enjoy “male privilege?” There’s no such thing. Men do hold certain advantages, but those are dwindling while the disadvantages are mounting.
These are but a few of the issues that affect men today. This page is dedicated to providing information and resources to aid in understanding the problem of misandry.

Is Feminism a Hate Movement? Part 2
Image via Wikipedia How Hate Relates to Feminism In Part 1 – What is Hate? I used a definition containing seven criteria to define a hate movement. In Part 2 and Part 3 I will demonstrate how feminism fits into each of the criteria and is therefore a hate movement. 1. Advocating lesser rights in law [...]
Is Feminism a Hate Movement? Part 1
Image by zen via Flickr What is Hate? I have frequently discussed my opinion that feminism is a hate movement. But what exactly does that mean? What constitutes hatred? The Encarta Dictionary defines hate as: to dislike somebody or something intensely, often in a way that evokes feelings of anger, hostility, or animosity. to [...]
Men Need Not Apply
Image via Wikipedia Male Feminists – Unwanted, unappreciated, not desired Toysoldiers has written an excellent piece on male feminists, illustrating their undesireable position in the movement. It illustrates why no man should ever consider himself a feminist. Follow the link to With Friends Like This…. Then read my reply which is re-published below: Feminism is [...]

The Equality Myth, revisited
Image via Wikipedia Just what is equality? Not long ago I wrote an article discussing how feminism is not really concerned with equality. I’ve also recently read two other articles on the subject of equality, one at Trigger Alert based on Kurt Vonnegut‘s Harrison Bergeron, and the other at A Voice for Men by B.R. Merrick. [...]

On My Honor
Image via Wikipedia Does honor define manhood? In medieval society, the phrase “on my honor” was not backed solely by a person’s reputation. Honor was equated with property. Therefore, a person (man or woman) who stated “on my honor” was making a pledge or guarantee backed by property or possession and not simply staking their [...]
The Equality Myth
Image via Wikipedia Feminism is about Equality of Men and Women What exactly is the equality that feminists calim they want? Equal rights? Equal opportunity? Equal protection under the law? Don’t Blame the Victim
Image by Getty Images via @daylife Pet Peeves With this article I am launching a new category of posts for my blog. It will consist of short blurbs about various things that irritate me. They may or may not fall into one of my other categories. “Don’t Blame the Victim” “Don’t blame the victim” is one of [...]
Expanding the Definition of a Crime
Will men be granted equal protection under the law? I recently wrote an article discussing Rape and False Rape Allegations. A recent news story from Israel raises several questions regarding consent and the definition of the crime of rape. The story, Arab man who posed as Jew to seduce woman convicted of rape, states that [...]
Exposing The Male Privilege Checklist
With privilege comes responsibility I found this on another blog. Would Men be Oppressed in a Feminist Society? Part 3
Is it The End of Men? Hannah Rosin recently published an article in The Atlantic Monthly titled The End of Men in which she claims that men are (or soon will be) second class citizens. One of the issues discussed in that article concerned unemployment and the failure to pay child support. She mentions a [...]
Rape and False Rape Allegations
Image by Getty Images via @daylife Accepting a challenge A few weeks ago, I was asked by a commenter on another site (True Equality) to define rape. A legal definition could have sufficed and I will present one here, however, such a definition is insufficient to comprise a complete discussion of the topic. A complete [...]
Father’s Day
Honor thy Father Father’s Day is said to have begun in 1910. It was the brain-child of Sonora Smart-Dodd, a woman who thought that fathers deserved the same recognition as mothers and was to be the equivalent of Mother’s Day. In other words, its creation was an afterthought meant to level the playing field so [...]
Father’s Day Ads
Subtle Misandry Sells at K-Mart I don’t watch a lot of commercial television. I prefer movies. But recently I saw an ad for Father’s Day depicting two men standing around a BBQ while their wives talked. One woman expressed her surprise at the other for purchasing a grill for her husband for Father’s Day. The [...]
On the “Right to Choose”
According to the American Heritage Dictionary a right is “That which is just, morally good, legal, proper, or fitting.” MSN Encarta adds that a right is “an entitlement or freedom.” In today’s world, a woman has the freedom to choose pregnancy or not, prior to becoming pregnant. Abstinence is the old fashioned way, while birth [...]
7 Pounds
Will Smith is absolutely incredible. I’ve never really been a big fan of Will Smith, but this movie may have just changed my mind. He was nothing short of superb in the role of Ben Thomas, a man seeking redemption for a momentary lapse that caused an accident in which seven people were killed. This [...]
Will Men Become the New Welfare Class?
Is prison welfare for men? Can Male Studies make a difference? Men now comprise only about 40% of all college students. Recent census data indicate that women now [...]
Fraternalism 101
Fundamental Principles of Fraternalism: The historical exploitation of men Recently I wrote an article entitled Feminism 101 that outlined the fundamental principles of mainstream feminism, an ideology based on an interpretation of history from a modern female perspective. Feminism 101
Fundamental Principles of Feminism I have often stated that I believe in equal rights and equal opportunity for men and women, but am against feminism. But, what exactly is feminism? Language ideology: What do words really mean?

Would men be oppressed in a feminist society?
Part 1 I wrote a previous article questioning the basic feminist assumption that women had been oppressed by men. My conclusion was that they have not. They have been victims of sexism and discrimination, but not oppression. They’ve had far too much power and privilege to call what they’ve suffered oppression. Black were oppressed, Native [...]

Have Women Been Oppressed?
“There can be no really pervasive system of oppression . . . without the consent of the oppressed” – Florynce R. They were each similar in [...]
Anti-male advertising
Commercials rarely depict men in a favorable position relative to women A few weeks ago I wrote about the anti-male attitude of NFL sponsors in their commercials. I’ve continued watching and it hasn’t gotten any better. Sponsors continue to use anti-male ads to sell their products and services to a largely male audience. Just a [...]
More Reasonable Health Care Reform
Senate Bill not entirely supportable, but better I’ve said before that we need helath care reform. I’ve also said that I will not support a bill that increases costs or makes insurance mandatory. When Does “Inequality = Equality?”
Answer: In a novel by George Orwell and in the Global Gender Gap Report, 2009 I have just finished reading what is perhaps the single most one-sided, biased, and sexist document that I have ever read in my life. NFL Sponsors’ Male-Bashing
TV Ads Turn Men Into Buffoons Over the first three weeks of the NFL season, I couldn’t help but notice the number of TV ads that portray men in negative stereotypes. Not all of this is bad mind you, but when it’s combined with strong, positive images of females breaking negative female stereotypes by making [...]
Politically Correct Sexism
Female violence against men The apparent murder/suicide of Steve McNair by his girlfriend is shocking. But just as disturbing as the crime itself, is the reluctance of the police to identify it as such. I’ve seen several news stories in recent years where the police and the media have immediately identified murder/suicides without much investigation [...]
